Resident. A common species found throughout England, more patchy in Wales and rare in Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

First confirmed in the north of the county in 2014 at Coed Pendugwm Nature Reserve. Only the 3rd record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 13-19mm.

Confusion species

Cydia splendana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Woodland and hedgerow trees.

Foodplant

Beech.

Lifestage data

Nut feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva feeds on the fruit, hollowing out nut. Pupates under bark or in surface litter.
